Japanese cast iron Tranquility tea pot. Has the appearance of highly prized antique tetsubins. This iron gem has a simple matte black finish with delicate ridges around the surface of the pot. It is referred to as a Tetsubin teapot, and is a unique and interesting vessel used in the Japanese tea ceremony called Chanoyu or *the way of tea*. The ornaments on this tetsubin are of fine decorative ridges covering the pots surface. These ridges may be reminiscent of the groomed sand in Japanese gardens. In Sencha, the nature or mythology designs are visible on one side of the tetsubin. This pot has an even, balanced or tempered look in the design symmetry hence its name - Tranquility.This is reminiscent of Feng Shui principles which focus on balancing environments for optimum benefit.
