Japanese cast iron Mythology tea pot. Has the appearance of highly prized antique tetsubins. This iron gem has a earthenware style finish. It is a sturdy pot with a broad flat round design. It is referred to as a Tetsubin teapot, and is a unique and interesting vessel used in the Japanese tea ceremony called Chanoyu or *the way of tea*. The ornaments on this tetsubin are of the dragon design covering the pots surface. The design encircles the opening where you pour in the boiling water. In Sencha, the nature or mythology designs are visible on one side of the tetsubin - in the right-handed design side where the spout points left. The dragon design on this pot encircles the entire surface of the pot. This pot has a 48 ounce capacity and as with this pot, is adorned with mythological or nature themes that can be simple or elaborate. Enamel coated, includes stainless steel infusing basket. For brewing and serving tea *NO stove top use*, *hand-washing only*.
