Product descriptions for our fair trade
scarves, shawls, and textiles.

fair trade fabrics

Handcrafted silk and wool products with a mixture of wild silks (eri, mooga and tussar) and naturally dyed through the extraction of pigments from available vegetation such as marigold, madder and onion skin. The golden threads you see in the shawls and scarves are eri silk which has a natural golden sheen. When spun on its own it has a unique quality. It is very light in weight, elegant and dressy.

These items are all handmade Fair Trade items using eco-friendly production techniques in the manufacturing of the item. Most of these products originate in rural India high in the central Himalayan Mountains. A few are handcrafted in Africa (see more fair trade african artisans' work). All of these products are executed with market ready, high quality craftsmanship.
